I have noticed that lots of people in the Network Marketing industry, or online marketing, or in the home business world in general, are inclined to spend an enormous amount of energy on their 'product' or their 'business opportunity,' and they act as though whatever they are selling, whatever they are promoting, or whatever their business opportunity is that they are selling is more important than they are -- that the 'thing' is really the big selling point, when that is not the case at all... the most important thing is actually themselves. You may be presenting the most incredible business opportunity you could imagine, but if you have not really developed yourself into somebody that is worth following and that people are going to really take value from, you are not going to be the magnetic person it takes to be successful in this industry. If you have been around this industry for a bit, you may already know this, and you may have an understanding of the concept... that the concept is about developing yourself personally and making yourself into a brand, but my main point today is that you must take yourself and make an asset out of 'you' that you will then have until the end of time - even if your mlm company implodes tomorrow, it will not matter - and that all-important asset is the network you create, the following you create, based upon YOU. Again, it is your Personal Network!
Building your own personal network is so important, and it is the key to guaranteeing your financial success on the internet. One of my favorite entrepreneurs and a great inspiration, Robert Kiyosaki, says that 'Wealthy people build networks ... everyone else looks for work.' The lesson from that quote is that if you create your very own network, you will have created the ability to utilize that network at any time and do anything that you want to do, thereby creating financial independence for yourself.
Okay, so how do you create a network and what does it look like? Essentially, your network is your 'list,' which is what you create when you make friends on any of the social networks, like Facebook, Twitter, a blog, MySpace, etc. These are all ways you can build your network, but you must keep in mind that you cannot build a network without incorporating the idea of really cultivating relationships. The ability to solidify your relationships is the true key to leveraging your network for your success. Essentially, the key is building up your personal network of like-minded individuals and cultivating the relationships those individuals. When you build real relationships with people, it no longer matters exactly what 'opportunity' you are selling. People will join you and follow you because of YOU. And in order to attract and keep these people, you must give them value. If you want to attract and keep your network, you must give in order to receive. The more value you provide, the bigger your network will become, and the more potential will you have to create wealth for yourself.
Make sure you are not focusing solely on your network marketing company or just selling your product, but focus instead on how to develop yourself and how to create your network as a result. By focusing on You, you will be able to create sustainable success. You are creating You, and that is it, that is the big 'secret' to internet marketing and to being financially free online.
Make sure you do not get caught up in all of the 'new' opportunities coming online everyday, and do not get caught up in hopping from company to company and effectively spreading yourself too thin (I was definitely guilty of doing this initially!). Do not worry about all of that... keep your focus on developing yourself, focus on building your own personal network, build relationships with people in social networks and build your own list. The secret is You. Master You, and you have mastered the real secret to financial freedom on the internet. Once you realize this and implement it, you will have financial freedom.
